Iranians Foil US Plot through Unity: Russian Orientalist

IQNA – A renowned Russian orientalist said the Americans’ plan behind the Zionist regime’s attack on Iran was to bring people to the streets, but the unity of the Iranians thwarted the plot.

President of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vitaly Naumkin made the remark at the third scientific conference on the Perspective of Iran-Russia Relations in a Changing World.

It was held in Moscow with the participation of political and diplomatic officials, experts, and university professors.

Naumkin said today we hear a lot of nonsense about the reasons for the aggression on Iran, like the idea that the Israeli regime launched its military attacks under the pretext of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), whereas Israeli itself is not a party to this treaty.

He said Western countries always target the solidarity and unity of people in independent countries, adding that the unified reaction of the Iranian people against the Israeli aggression was very important and remarkable.

Today, we are witnessing the cohesion and unity of the Iranian society in the face of external threats, which shows that the calculations of this country’s enemies have backfired, he stressed.

The president of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences went to emphasize the importance of unity among independent countries in the face of the unilateral moves of the West, led by the United States.

He also said the instability caused by the Israeli aggression against Iran threatens everyone and, therefore, independent countries must stand up to such aggressive moves that are supported by Western countries.
